Welcome to
Nordic Data Science Summit
On behalf of our Nordic community and the organizing committee, I am delighted to welcome you to the inaugural Nordic Data Science Summit.
For every industrial and economic revolution there is a job title, or people that are associated with the revolution. We are currently living in the 4th industrial revolution which has taken us into the new digital economy. In this new revolution the ones who will bare the success on its shoulders and will be called the modern enterprise heroes are the ones who dare to ask the questions that the business is not aware of, by mining actionable and sensible insights from the multiple data formats leveraging mathematics, statistics, machine learning etc. Harward Business Review called this job with the title “the sexiest job title of the 21st century” - Data Scientist.
Data Science is already creating an impact in today’s business, from reinventing traditional business models, to revamping internal business processes, to mitigating risks effectively, and producing highly relevant, hyperpersonalized customer experiences. More data-driven organizations are
hiring data scientists to drive their efforts to gather, analyze, and make use
of Big Data in valuable ways.
Sameer Dhanrajani from Cognizant, in an article from 2015 said “Data Science
is a complex field but not rocket science. It needs all the diligence, perseverance, is intellectually taxing and requires sophisticated integration of talent, tools and techniques. But, a true data scientist is the one who can cut through these complexities, and yet provide a clear, effective way for this
business world to employ insights for value generation”. The quote above
is a good way to explain the reason for organizing this annual event and to
describe what to expect from the event when it comes to content. As the
Nordic Data Science community is growing bigger and organisations are
investing more and more in data science, there is a need for a benchmarking
platform that will enable professionals working in this area to share
ideas, learn about new technologies and techniques, and present ways of
harnessing the power of data science.
The Nordic Data Science Summit is both business and technical event focusing
both on Data Science and Data Engineering. During the one day events
we will cover some of the most interesting enterprise data science practical
case studies in the Nordics, present some of the new technologies and
techniques available, and discuss the presence and future of Data Science
as an enterprise value driven function.
The agenda is created from our delegates for our delegates, and it will focus on data science, data engineering, machine learning, deep learning, Big Data,
real time and streaming data, A/B testing, visualization and much more.
Furthermore, in workshop type of learning, we will cover technologies like
Hadoop and Spark, image and language processing, and applied machine
learning in IOT.
Join us! Be an enterprise hero.
